Regional School Unit 25

RUCKUS helps a small Maine school district upgrade bandwidth and coverage across complex, aging buildings.

Regional School Unit 25 in Bucksport, Maine, serves 1.100 students across six buildings, some of which were built in the 1930s. Thick brick walls and unique layouts made wireless deployment difficult. The district needed a scalable, budget-friendly solution that two IT staff could manage efficiently.

Using federal E-Rate funding, RSU 25 installed 101 RUCKUS wireless access points, 33 ICX® switches RUCKUS SmartZone™ controllers, and fiber cabling. The system eliminated recurring licensing fees and enabled centralized management from a single dashboard. As the district doubled its devices and added classroom tech, the network kept pace. RSU 25 now supports secure, reliable connections for students, staff, guests, and special programs, with coverage extending to outdoor areas.
